Necessary?

Mines just flapping about and only connected to the frame. (Not mine pictured but an example of what Im talking about).

I’ve never ever come across an exhaust ground cable before so can’t imagine it’s that necessary tbh

I just found one on my Mom’s SLK way back between the exhaust tip and the muffler....

Well I imagine the engine block is grounded, which is connected to the exhast maybe if you don't live in a cold weather state the strap is not necessary

I cant remember where but I believe I once heard the muffler or cat are capable of generating a static charge. Probably more so the cat or a fiberglass filled muffler perhaps.

I had the one between the firewall and the hood snap the pin on the hood.

Since there’s nothing electrical, and it’s a diesel, who cares.
